Nigerian-born forward named in Spain’s Olympic squad

Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion has been included in Spain’s squad for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Omorodion is one of three Atletico Madrid players named in the squad.

The other two are, Pablo Barrios and goalkeeper Alejandro Iturbe.

Omorodion was born in Mellila, Spain to Nigerian parents.

The 20-year-old is still eligible to represent Nigeria at the senior level.

Spain kicked off their campaign for the gold medal in Paris at the Stade de France, before heading to Bordeaux to take on the Dominican Republic three days later, and then Egypt on July 30. The top two go through to the knockout round.
