“Nigerian army recruit allegedly murdered two days before training by lover”

Ali Muhammed Wakil has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command over the death of his 23-year-old girlfriend Patience Amos Ya’u, at Damilu community in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

It is suspected that Patience, a recruit in the Nigerian Army, died on January 12, as the smell from her decomposing body caught the attention of neighbors.

According to a neighbor, Patience and her boyfriend engaged in an argument before her death. Despite her death, Wakil continued with his activities cheerfully, with the corpse decaying in his room.

Residents became suspicious when we did not see the woman for three days. What worried us more was the terrible odor from their room. What compounded the situation was how the door of the room was locked from outside, a development that compelled people to forcefully open the window of the room, only to discover the body of the woman decomposing.

Amos Ya’u, the deceased’s father, recounted that Patience left his house to plait her hair but did not return. She mentioned she would return the next day when called, but her phone was switched off when they tried to reach her the following day. It was four days later that the police informed Amos of his daughter’s death.

The state police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the suspect’s arrest and stated that Wakil is being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
