Nigeria would have been dead and gone if Buhari wasn't elected – Femi Adesina

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, has claimed that Nigeria would have faced dire consequences if Buhari had not been elected as the country’s President in 2015.

In a recent article titled “Insecurity: What Buhari has done, and is doing”, Adesina alleged that Boko Haram, if not stopped, would have extended their control from the northern region to the south. He claimed that before Buhari took office, there were frequent bomb attacks across the country, and the Nigerian military was in a demoralized state.

Adesina highlighted Buhari’s efforts in restoring the morale of the Nigerian military by reequipping, retraining, and improving their salaries and welfare. He emphasized the priority given to security by the President, citing significant strides made in combating various forms of insecurity, including insurgency, banditry, and communal clashes.

According to Adesina, the Nigerian Air Force, in particular, has made substantial progress in terms of aircraft serviceability and operational effectiveness, with the procurement and induction of new aircraft. He also lauded the establishment of various military operations targeting different security challenges across the country.

Adesina acknowledged the emergence of regional security outfits such as Amotekun and Shege-Ka-Fasa, attributing their proliferation to the collective responsibility of the government and the people in securing their communities.

He also highlighted the role of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the success of operations like Lafiya Dole, Safe Corridor, Sharan Daji, and Delta Safe in combating various forms of criminal activities.

The article concluded by listing several breakthroughs in the fight against crime, crediting the efforts of security agencies in apprehending notorious criminals and dismantling criminal syndicates.

Adesina emphasized the ongoing commitment to ensuring the security and stability of Nigeria, stressing that the work to secure the country continues.
