Nigeria police tries officers demanding for tinted permit in viral video

The trial of three men purporting to be police officers attached to Zone 2 Command, who were filmed in a viral video demanding a tinted permit from a motorist, has commenced. The video, posted by user @EmmCee_RNB on January 25, 2024, caught the attention of the Nigeria Police Force.

Zone 2 Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ayuba T. Umma, stated that the involved officers are ASP Kenedy Ereoah, Inspector Ademiluyi Adekunle, and Inspector Ayo Gbenga, all attached to Zonal Intelligence Bureau, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos. The officers are presently undergoing trial for violating the IGP’s directive on tinted permits.

In response to the video, the statement clarified that despite being on official duty, the officers’ behavior was deemed unprofessional. The Command also emphasized its willingness to address the concerns of the impacted member of the public, urging them to get in touch with the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer for further action.
