Next Steps Revealed by Bode George as PDP Aims for Reconciliation – Wike’s Position Discussed

In an update, Bode George, a notable figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shared that efforts are being made to reconcile the party’s members, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.

George highlighted that the PDP’s approach is focused on reconciliation rather than engaging in conflict.

During the 2023 presidential election, Wike had clashes with the PDP leadership.

He and his G-5 group opted to support different presidential candidates rather than the PDP’s choice, Atiku Abubakar.

Wike’s stance led to significant divisions within the party, particularly regarding his insistence on a Southern candidate, which resulted in the removal of the former National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

George emphasized ongoing efforts within the party to address the rift stemming from the previous general election.

Referencing Wike’s presence at a PDP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting despite his affiliation with the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, George shared insights during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

George mentioned the existence of a standing committee tasked with expanding its members to conduct a thorough analysis post-election.

He stressed the importance of avoiding reactionary responses, stating, “We do not want to resort to confrontation due to a few individuals dwelling on past events. The priority is for the party to progress.”

Addressing the concerns within the party, George emphasized the need for internal resolution, stating, “It is an internal matter that should be handled within the party’s framework rather than in public domains. We are committed to resolving our issues internally, akin to a family.”
