New Chief Press Secretary Appointed for Akwa Ibom First Lady


The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has named Comrade Uduak Ekong as the Chief Press Secretary to the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Eno. Ekong previously served as the Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWoJ) in the state.

Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, issued a letter on June 20, 2024, confirming Ekong’s appointment effective from June 1, 2023.

Prior to this role, Ekong was employed at the Akwa Ibom State Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) and held the position of Chairman at the AKBC TV Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.

A statement from the governor’s wife’s media unit announced, “Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has endorsed the selection of Uduak Utip Ekong as the Press Secretary for the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Eno.”

The statement continued, “According to a letter dated June 20, 2024, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the appointment is effective from June 1, 2023.”

It further highlighted Ekong’s previous roles, stating, “Before her new position, Uduak Ekong was a staff member at the Akwa Ibom State Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC, and served as the Chairman of the AKBC TV Chapel under the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Akwa Ibom State.”
