According to Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the spokesperson of the Northern Elders’ Forum, having an ethnic President is not necessary for Nigeria.
He expressed his views during his speech at the 19th Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja, where he lamented the political tensions building up towards the 2023 elections.
Addressing the country’s hardships, he remarked, “One of the worst things you can do is to create huge additional anger around the cost of living, the cost of fuel, cost of prices, pushing the citizen into more depression and you want to have elections just a few months after?”
