NDDC refutes claims of financing Edo APC governorship campaigns

In response to social media reports, the Niger Delta Development Commission has denied allegations that it was diverting funds meant for contractors to support the Governorship campaigns of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday by the Director of Corporate Affairs at NDDC, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, addressed the misinformation and urged the public to disregard the false claims which lacked concrete sources.

The agency emphasized its commitment to accelerating development in the Niger Delta region and disassociated itself from sponsoring political parties or election candidates.

The NDDC statement stated, “We want to clarify that the Commission does not engage in funding political activities. Our primary goal is to drive progress in the Niger Delta region and positively impact the lives of its residents.”

“We urge the public to disregard baseless rumors aimed at undermining the efforts of the NDDC under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Chiedu Ebie and Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku,” the statement continued, highlighting the agency’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Furthermore, the NDDC highlighted its collaboration with KPMG, a global consultancy firm, to enhance corporate governance and internal processes, signaling a shift towards a culture of ethical practices.

The agency also emphasized its collaboration with stakeholders, including the governors of the nine Niger Delta states, to advance the development agenda in alignment with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Assuring stakeholders of its unwavering focus, the NDDC expressed determination to implement meaningful changes and drive transformation in the Niger Delta region for the benefit of its residents.
