NCDC’s Claim of New Coronavirus Cases on Lagos Vessel Challenged by Nigerian Ports Authority

Confirmation of 12 new cases of Coronavirus in Lagos was announced by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday night. The agency’s tweet mentioned that 6 of the cases were discovered on a vessel that arrived in Lagos.

However, the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) has contested this assertion and has requested the NCDC to provide information about the vessel where the cases were identified.

In a tweet from its official handle, NPA addressed NCDC:

Hello @NCDCgov. The Authority, in collaboration with Port Health, has not confirmed any cases to date regarding the 6 new cases that “were detected on a vessel” in Lagos.
