NBA Mourns Former Ikeja Branch Chair, Ogunlana

Expressing deep sorrow, the Nigerian Bar Association acknowledges the passing of Adesina Ogunlana, the former chairman of the Ikeja Branch of the NBA.

Ogunlana, who served as Chairman of the NBA Ikeja Branch from 2016 to 2018, peacefully departed on Tuesday.

A statement issued by the National Executive Committee of the NBA, conveyed through the National Publicity Secretary, Akorede Lawal, on Wednesday, describes Ogunlana’s death as a significant loss.

The statement also highlights Ogunlana’s impactful leadership during his tenure as Chairman of the NBA Ikeja Branch from 2016 to 2018, particularly noting his active involvement in protesting against the increased Land Use Charge implemented by the Lagos State Government in 2018.

The statement emphasizes, “The National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association received the news today with profound sadness regarding the passing of the distinguished member of the NBA, Adesina Ogunlana, Esq.

“Mr. Ogunlana served as the former chairman of the Ikeja Branch of the NBA.

“During his leadership at the NBA Ikeja Branch from 2016 to 2018, there was a notable revitalization within the legal community as he spearheaded the protest against the surge in the Land Use Charge imposed by the Lagos State Government in 2018.

“At a time when the citizens of this nation seek guidance from conscientious legal professionals, the loss of Adesina Ogunlana is truly significant, given his unwavering activism.

“Mr. Ogunlana, known for his advocacy in the courtroom and as the publisher of Squib Magazine, actively championed the rule of law, fair administration of justice, and the safeguarding of human rights throughout his lifetime.

“The Nigerian Bar Association and the legal fraternity will feel the absence of Adesina Ogunlana, as will Nigeria as a whole. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his immediate family, friends, and the members of the NBA Ikeja Branch.

“In your time of mourning, remember that we stand in solidarity with you. While we grieve together, we find comfort in the legacy of Adesina Ogunlana. May God grant us all solace.”
