Nationwide Protests Must Cease Immediately – Adegboruwa Urges Nigerians

Human rights lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has issued a call for Nigerians to halt the ongoing nationwide hunger protests without delay as they enter their second day.

Expressing concern over the losses incurred during the demonstrations, Adegboruwa emphasized that such outcomes were not the intended objective of the protests.

In a statement released on Friday, he appealed to all protesters to vacate their protest sites and cease the demonstrations promptly and indefinitely to pave the way for constructive dialogue and interaction with the federal government.

Noting the alleged infiltration of the protests by sponsored individuals, Adegboruwa stressed the importance of preventing further damages and injuries, urging the organizers and their representatives to seek resolution through dialogue.

Offering his heartfelt sympathies to the affected security personnel, protesters, their employers, and families, Adegboruwa prayed for divine comfort and strength to endure their losses.

He also called upon President Bola Tinubu to deliver a direct national address and engage with the demonstrators through their appointed representatives.

According to NewsNow, Adegboruwa is affiliated with the Take It Back Movement and is among the legal representatives associated with the ongoing protests.

Earlier, on July 26, 2024, Adegboruwa had written to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun on behalf of the group organizing the #EndBadGovernance protest, requesting police protection for the protesters.
