Third Mainland Bridge and Other Projects Inspected by N’Assembly Panels

Encouraging collaborative efforts from all sectors is crucial to building a country that all can be proud of, according to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized this during a visit by the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works to the Lagos House in Marina on Thursday.

Senator Barinada Mpigi and Akin Alabi led the joint committee, comprising members from the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Works.

Speaking during the visit, Mpigi outlined that their presence in Lagos was part of their oversight responsibilities to inspect ongoing major Federal Government projects in the city, such as the 700-km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge, and the Carter Bridge.

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the existing challenges amidst significant opportunities in Lagos.

He stressed the importance of expanding infrastructure, maintaining current assets, and ensuring adequate funding to sustain them for the benefit of Lagos residents.

Expressing gratitude, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership in promoting effective governance across the country, including interventions like the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund.

He stated, “Lagos, being a key hub, requires the infrastructure being inspected. It’s not just about building new infrastructure, but also about preserving and enhancing existing assets that are essential for all Nigerians.

“As a government, we view ourselves as partners with the National Assembly and the Federal Government in delivering services to our people. It’s about advancing the Nigerian narrative, developing our economy, and our nation.”

Highlighting the collaboration, Sanwo-Olu assured that investments made in infrastructure would be well-utilized, maintained, and contribute to economic growth for the populace.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Works praised Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for supporting the Federal Government’s infrastructure initiatives in Lagos.

The ongoing repair works on the Third Mainland Bridge have necessitated its closure on multiple occasions throughout February.

Motorists were advised to cooperate with traffic management officials to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize disruptions during the closure period.
