Nassarawa State set to implement N70,000 minimum wage

Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nassarawa State, has affirmed readiness to ensure the payment of the new N70,000 minimum wage to civil servants in the region.

During a visit to the office of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nasarawa State, Mr. Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, made this announcement on Tuesday in Lafia.

He highlighted that providing the new minimum wage to civil servants would not only enhance their well-being but also increase their efficiency.

The approval for the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage to workers was previously endorsed by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

“The administration under Governor Abdullahi Sule is fully committed to ensuring the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage for civil servants in the state,” he stated.

He urged individuals engaged in the nationwide protests to cease the demonstrations and opt for peaceful dialogues, noting that several of their concerns have already been under government scrutiny and resolution.

He emphasized that while citizens have the constitutional right to express their grievances through peaceful protests, any form of criminal activities, such as property looting under the pretext of protest, will not be condoned by the government.

Mr. Ahemba pointed out the notable absence of widespread protests in Nasarawa State, attributing it to Governor Sule’s commendable policies and initiatives aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by the state’s populace.

He stressed that the most effective approach to resolving grievances is through dialogue rather than protests.

Additionally, he affirmed that the Sule administration will continue to actively support initiatives to provide reliable power supply in the state, contributing to the advancement of industrialization and socio-economic activities among the residents.

The state government has achieved significant progress in infrastructural development, with the ongoing construction of a flyover and underpass in Lafia anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion in the city and enhance the overall visual appeal of the state capital.
