NARSDA, Proforce collaborate to develop quartet of satellites for security, agriculture, and more

In a joint effort, the National Space Research and Development Agency (NARSDA) has joined forces with Proforce Galaxies Limited to introduce a group of four satellites with the aim of enhancing Nigeria’s security and maritime operations.

Dr. Felix Ale, the Director of Media and Corporate Communications at the Agency, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.

This collaboration is anticipated to elevate Nigeria’s national economy, security, and satellite technology advancement, representing a significant stride toward realizing the country’s aspirations in the aerospace sector.

Comprising of three optical satellites and one Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite, these satellites will be instrumental for precision agriculture, monitoring, data collection, and will serve crucial purposes in various sectors including defense, maritime, oil and gas, among others.

Dr. Matthew Adepoju, the Director-General of NASRDA, remarked, “The private sector plays a pivotal role in propelling innovation and growth, and we are dedicated to supplying the required technical know-how for this partnership.”

Adepoju lauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing a Minister of the Federal Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology, who champions private sector-driven initiatives. He stated, “This collaboration underscores the President’s dedication to harnessing technology for national progress.”

The Group Managing Director of Proforce Galaxies Limited, Engr. Ade Ogundeyin, affirmed, “NASRDA possesses the capacity and capability to spearhead the global aerospace industry, and the launch of these satellites will cement this position.”

Underlining the importance of technology transfer for national advancement, Ogundeyin mentioned, “This strategic partnership will yield substantial benefits not only for the involved parties but also for the entire nation, with the remarkable outcomes standing as milestones of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Adepoju pledged NASRDA’s backing and eagerness for the success of the joint endeavor, stating, “We acknowledge Proforce’s remarkable achievements, particularly its exceptional productivity since the commencement of this partnership two years ago.”
