NANS: Social Unrest is not the Solution for Hardship

In addressing the current challenges faced by Nigerians, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) emphasized that social unrest is not the answer to the hardship being experienced in the country.

Recognizing the economic struggles faced by Nigerians, NANS cautioned against engaging in unrest and called for transparency among those planning protests, urging a thorough examination of their motives.

NANS President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, emphasized the importance of assessing the situation and taking strategic steps rather than resorting to mob actions.

The student body affirmed that Nigerian students would not support any actions that could further destabilize the nation, highlighting that drastic measures are not the solution to current challenges.

“NANS recognizes the hardships endured by Nigerians as a result of recent government reforms. While these reforms aim to drive sustainable development, they have also brought economic difficulties affecting households nationwide. We empathize with the struggles faced by all Nigerians,” the statement read.

“It is crucial to exercise patience and resilience as the desired transformation will take time. We remain optimistic that the positive impacts of these reforms will manifest in the near future, urging citizens to demonstrate understanding during this adjustment phase,” the statement continued.

NANS also denounced any association of Nigerian students with protests against the government at this time, cautioning against individuals and groups seeking to exploit the economic situation for personal gains through incitement of unrest.

“Organizers of these protests hide their identities and propagate divisive rhetoric that can lead to chaos. They are merely seeking to worsen the economic realities facing Nigerians for selfish political motives,” NANS remarked.
