Moses Simon Honored with Kaduna Peace and Unity Award

Moses Simon, a key player for the Super Eagles, expressed his joy at receiving an award recognizing his contributions to promoting peace and unity in Kaduna State, as reported by Punch Sports Extra.

The 28-year-old Nantes forward took to social media to share his excitement after being presented with the award at the conclusion of the three-day 1 Division Nigerian Army Football for Peace Tournament 2024, organized in collaboration with Simoiben Football Academy. The event was held at the new barracks football pitch in Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna.

In his Instagram post on Thursday, Simon expressed his gratitude to Major General MLD Saraso, GOC 1 Div, for recognizing his efforts in using football as a tool for fostering peace and unity in Kaduna State. He described the tournament, hosted by the GOC, as a great success and credited everyone involved in making it possible.

Originally from Jos, where he started his football journey with Plateau United, Moses Simon has a strong connection to Kaduna State. He honed his skills at GBS Academy from 2003 to 2013 before moving to Ajax Amsterdam.

The primary objective of the tournament was to bring together young people and communities through the power of sports. The competition featured four teams, with Green Beret FC emerging victorious by defeating Simoiben FC 13-12 in a penalty shootout in the championship match.
