Zubby had labeled the AMVCA as a “joke” and suggested it was “highly political”. He also claimed the organizers are Yoruba and failed to “recognize the pillars of Nollywood.” (read here).
Responding to Zubby’s perceived tribalistic comments, Monica Friday stated, “How they judge a movie is not your business.”
She suggested that if Zubby believed the AMVCA organizers were biased towards a particular tribe, he should organize his own award ceremony and honor whomever he sees fit.
Monica also explained the process for selecting AMVCA winners and cautioned Zubby about potentially stirring up tribal sentiments due to his influential position.
