Money is meant to be spent – Lagos Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa reacts to allegations of fraud against him (videos)

Lagos House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa has addressed allegations of fraud raised against him, which has sparked a variety of responses.

Obasa was accused of various financial improprieties, including giving his mistress N34m for media and civil society organization meetings, possessing 64 bank accounts, using N258M for printing inauguration invitations, claiming N80m as a 5-day event estacode, and spending N13.7m on small chops, water, juice, and soft drinks, among other expenses.

In response, Obasa denied any wrongdoing during an interview with media personality Dele Momodu. He emphasized that money is meant to be spent and defended his expenditures by stating that they were all accounted for in the budget. Moreover, he disputed the alleged large expenditures and mentioned that some of the expenses had been in place before he assumed the role of speaker.

Moreover, Obasa alleged the existence of individuals within the parliament who engage in document theft to pursue unfeasible objectives.
