Dele Momodu Criticizes Fayose’s Comments on Poor Families

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose recently made remarks suggesting that poor men having multiple wives and children impede Nigeria’s progress, a statement that journalist Chief Dele Momodu strongly rebuked.

In an interview with Channels TV, Fayose highlighted his observations from the North and expressed concerns about the impact of poor men having numerous wives and children on the country’s development.

Momodu, in response, posed thought-provoking questions, challenging the comparison between the supposed hindrance of a poor man with multiple family members and the excessive lifestyle of a politician with high-maintenance mistresses.

He also raised the question of productivity, pointing out the contributions of both politicians and the underprivileged sectors of society, disputing the notion that the latter group is less industrious.

Momodu called on Fayose to acknowledge the collective failure of those in power and advocate for a critical reset instead of engaging in a blame game.

He penned, “Dear Brother AYO FAYOSE, I pose two simple questions to you: who poses a greater threat to the nation, a poor man with multiple wives and children or a politician with one wife and numerous lavish mistresses, misusing public funds on extravagant luxuries such as private jets?

“Who contributes more to society, the politician who embezzles the hard-earned resources of the people or the impoverished individual who sends their family to toil in the fields for the benefit of all?

“Your Excellency, my Brother, let us acknowledge our failure in serving this nation and urgently seek a fresh start. Blame games are a luxury we cannot afford in these critical times.

“May divine forgiveness be upon our wrongdoings…
With warmest regards, CHIEF DELE MOMODU”
