The youths of Ebem community in Ohafia, Abia State responded to the alleged killing of a young man by policemen who had a confrontation with a supermarket owner by pushing back against the security operatives. A video has surfaced online showing the moment the youths released prisoners and proceeded to set the DPO’s residence and the police station on fire. The tense situation was further described in the video, with a man speaking in the background stating that the youths were releasing their people and had no intention of surrendering. He also mentioned the presence of soldiers who seemed unable to stop them.
After the young man’s killing, the situation escalated, leading to the burning of a magistrate court and the DPO’s house, in addition to the police station. The video capturing these events has become viral on social media platforms.
