The nationwide ban on night grazing has been announced by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). This decision was made at the Annual General Meeting of the association in Damaturu on Wednesday January 8, with the aim of reducing conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.
According to MACBAN’s National Secretary Baba Uthman, the decision will be communicated to all members of the group. He stated, “This is a decision that has been taken by the highest decision making body of the association. As it is taken here, it will go down the ladder down to our members at the grassroots. They will be informed and sensitized concerning it.”
Additionally, the Fulani group announced a ban on grazing by minors and hawking of milk by teenage girls, citing the potential danger to minors and cultural abuses.
