Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, reportedly appoints daughter as her Special Assistant

The appointment of Violet Osunde as a Special Assistant by the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, has stirred controversy. Osunde, who was previously a senior executive assistant with the National Databank Management Department of the National Pension Commission, received her appointment letter in November last year.

The Premium Times reports that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Ifeoma Anagbogu, addressed a letter to Osunde, informing her of the appointment. The letter indicated that a request had been made for Osunde to serve as a special assistant to the Minister.

In response, Osunde allegedly applied for a four-year leave of absence from the National Pension Commission. This decision has sparked varied reactions, with the Minister justifying her action while others, including the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kola Ologbodiyan, criticizing the move.

The debate around the appointment underscores the ethical considerations and public perceptions of such decisions within the Nigerian political landscape.
