Minister attributes energy deficit to lack of adequate financing and insufficient gas supply

In his opening address at the power sector stakeholders’ interactive dialogue organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Power in Abuja, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, pinpointed inadequate financing and insufficient gas supply as the key factors contributing to the energy deficit in the country.

Adelabu highlighted the determination of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to tackle the challenges and improve Nigeria’s business environment. However, he expressed concerns about the current state of power supply nationwide.

Emphasizing the vital role of the power sector in the functioning of all other industries, Adelabu stated, “No sector can function optimally without the power sector. Over the years, poor financing and inadequate gas supply have been responsible for the energy deficit we have in the country. But a lot of work is going on to address these challenges.”

The event was graced by notable figures including Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, Enyinnaya Abaribe; House of Representatives counterpart, Victor Nwokolo; and Group Managing Director of the Sahara Power Group, Mr. Kola Adesina, among others.
