Michael Ballack, Former Chelsea Midfielder, Undergoes a Secret Operation to Remove a Tumour from his Back

Michael Ballack, the former Chelsea midfielder, recently underwent a surgical procedure to eliminate a tumour from his back.

As per Bild, doctors discovered a growth on the body of the former Germany international during an MRI examination. He promptly underwent surgery in Hanover to remove the tumour from near his spinal cord during the lockdown.

Recent laboratory tests confirmed that Ballack does not have cancer, as the results showed the tumour to be benign.

Currently, the 43-year-old is recuperating on holiday in Portugal where he is also following the performance of his former team, Bayern Munich, in the Champions League.

Ballack, who retired eight years ago, earned 98 caps for his country and played a key role in guiding them to the final of the 2002 World Cup.

After spending four years at Bayern Munich, he moved to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer in 2006. The iconic midfielder secured two FA Cups and a single Premier League title during his time with Chelsea.
