Message to Tinubu: Rethink Strategies in Tackling Economic Challenges, Group Urges

President Bola Tinubu has been advised by the Katsina State chapter of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah, JIBWIS, to reconsider his approach towards addressing the economic hardships prevailing in the nation.

During an interactive session with journalists in Katsina on Wednesday, Sheikh Yakubu Musa-Hassan, the leader of the Islamic sect in the state, made this appeal.

In light of the current security concerns in certain areas of the country, he also encouraged protestors to refrain from engaging in such activities, suggesting instead a national prayer initiative.

Musa-Hassan cited incidents of vandalism, theft, and violence arising from protests as justification for urging youths to refrain from such actions.

He emphasized the importance of parents intervening to prevent their children from getting involved in unlawful behaviors.

“The protests should serve as a wake-up call for state governors and Tinubu to reconsider their strategies in handling the severe economic conditions in the nation.

“Tinubu should ensure that any support he provides reaches the most deserving individuals rather than being distributed among politicians,” he added.

“A large number of people were unaware of the financial and food aid from the Federal Government, necessitating a reassessment by the president.

“Simply giving out food and money to the needy is insufficient; the government should also impart entrepreneurial skills to the youth for self-sustainability,” the cleric asserted.

Musa-Hassan urged those responsible for disseminating government assistance to act with integrity and deliver resources to their intended recipients.

He warned that failing to do so would lead to divine retribution on Judgment Day, where they would have nothing to offer except their minimal good deeds.

Responding to rumors on social media alleging that JIBWIS had received rice from the government for distribution, Musa-Hassan clarified, “I have never come across a single bag of such rice.
