An individual who is mentally disturbed, identified as Badejo Adewale, was apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for setting a resident of Surulere ablaze by dousing him with petrol. The victim, Bolatito Kadara, was hurried to the Lagos Island General Hospital and is currently recovering after sustaining burns on Hogan Bassey Street in Surulere. Badejo was apprehended following a report to the Surulere Police Station by the victim’s sister, Miss Adeola Kadara.
Bala Elkana, the Lagos State Police Spokesperson, verified the occurrence and stated that the suspect remained silent during attempts to interview him. According to Elkana, “The victim has been taken to the Lagos Island General Hospital and he is recuperating. He made a statement to the police and narrated how Adewale, the mentally-deranged man, poured petrol on him and ignited it. The police extended their investigations to the Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, where the suspect is admitted.” Elkana also revealed that the investigation into the incident is still in progress.
