During his appearance before a Senate ad-hoc committee investigating alleged economic sabotage in the Nigerian Petroleum industry, Mele Kyari, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), emphasized that the oil sector is not involved in importing substandard products into the country.
Senator Opeyemi Bamidele leads the committee tasked with this investigation.
Addressing the committee, Kyari defended NNPCL’s integrity, stating that the company is committed to the nation’s economic well-being. He refuted allegations suggesting that NNPCL is undermining the economy and affirmed, “We will remain honest and safeguard our reputation to continue serving our country.”
Kyari also highlighted the challenges faced by the oil and gas industry, hinting at undisclosed issues that currently affect the sector. He advocated for future committee sessions to be broadcasted live to ensure transparency.
