Mele Kyari Applauds Military’s Efforts in Combating Crude Oil Theft

Efforts by the military to combat crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism have been lauded by Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited. These efforts have led to a notable increase in crude oil production, as highlighted in a statement by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL.

During a courtesy visit to the NNPC Towers in Abuja, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and senior military officials were appreciated by Kyari for their role in the ongoing fight against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

In a statement, Kyari urged the military to continue their efforts in addressing these issues, citing the positive impact on the nation’s crude oil production. He emphasized the need for enhanced security engagement to sustain the progress achieved.

Speaking further, Kyari acknowledged the collaboration with the armed forces and other security agencies in safeguarding critical assets, leading to the recent surge in production. He underscored the importance of these efforts not only for Nigeria but also for the global energy sector.

General Musa, in his remarks, introduced the Monitoring Team tasked with ensuring the security of the nation’s hydrocarbon infrastructure. He reiterated the military’s commitment to enhancing performance and productivity, emphasizing the importance of partnership with various stakeholders for optimal results.

The General emphasized the significance of increased production for economic prosperity and pledged to work closely with intelligence agencies, private security firms, state governments, and local communities to achieve set targets.
