Meeting of Southwest Governors in Lagos Amid Minimum Wage Negotiations

A closed-door meeting among Southwest governors is currently taking place in Lagos State.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is hosting the meeting at the Lagos House in the Ikeja area of the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, along with his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hazmat, welcomed Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

This meeting occurs amidst ongoing negotiations between the Nigerian Government and organized labor regarding a new national minimum wage.

While labor is advocating for N250,000, the Nigerian government has suggested N62,000.

There are signs that labor might initiate a nationwide strike from Tuesday if the Nigerian government does not meet their demands.
