Meeting between Katsina Police Commissioner and NLC in Anticipation of Protest

Prior to an upcoming protest, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, engaged in a meeting with representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Monday with the aim of ensuring a peaceful demonstration.

The discussion revolved around devising strategies and implementing measures to guarantee a protest that is conducted in a safe and organized manner, while also upholding the rights of all participants. Both parties underscored the significance of carrying out the protest peacefully and in accordance with the law to effectively communicate their message while also upholding human rights.

According to a statement released by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the spokesperson for the command, the Police Commissioner reassured the NLC representatives of the citizens’ right to protest and affirmed the commitment of the police command to safeguarding that right.

Additionally, he pledged the command’s dedication to establishing a conducive atmosphere for peaceful demonstrations, emphasizing the importance of transparent communication and adherence to agreed-upon protocols.

The NLC representatives expressed gratitude to the CP for his consistent support and unwavering dedication to nurturing an environment of mutual understanding and collaboration for the benefit of all involved stakeholders.
