Mass arrest of more than 50 individuals suspected of homosexual activities at a gathering in Kano

According to reports, over 50 individuals suspected of homosexual activities were apprehended by the Sharia Police, also known as Hisbah, at an event held in Sabuwar-Gandu Quarters within Kano metropolis.

 

The men were taken into custody before the commencement of the event on allegations of gathering as homosexuals to celebrate their unity. Conversely, the individuals, who are recent graduates, maintain that the gathering was organized to mark their graduation from a tertiary institution.

 

Mallam Tasiu, a senior commander of Hisbah, verified the arrest and claimed that the individuals had invited their same-sex partners to the gathering. Tasiu disclosed that the men were apprehended based on gathered intelligence, and mentioned that they are presently undergoing reorientation programs.

 

The senior Hisbah commander revealed that the reorientation programs, conducted in accordance with Islamic teachings, are being carried out prior to their prosecution.
