Manhunt Underway for Father Who Allegedly Killed His Six-Year-Old Daughter in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has launched a search for Sankey Ovemureye, who is accused of the murder of his six-year-old daughter, Abigail Stanley.

According to a statement by SP Edafe Bright, the spokesperson for the command, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday and was reported by the suspect’s brother.

The report stated, “Following the complaint, operatives were dispatched to the scene at Uviama New Layout, Agbarho Ughelli North LGA, where they discovered the lifeless body of the young child, who had suffered multiple head injuries from being smashed against the wall. The body was then taken to the mortuary.

“The primary suspect, the father, is currently evading authorities.”

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered an intensive search for the suspect and assured the public that justice will be served when he is captured.

Abaniwonda also encouraged individuals with relevant information on the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.

Earlier this year, PUNCH reported on the arrest of a 70-year-old man, Theophilus Udeh, for killing his son in Eziama Lokpaukwu, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, allegedly over a food dispute.
