Matthijs de Ligt, the latest signing for Manchester United from Bayern Munich, has been cautioned by former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood. Sherwood advises United fans not to get carried away with excitement over this acquisition. Despite having played for prominent clubs like Juventus and Bayern Munich, Sherwood believes that De Ligt has lost his path.
During his commentary on Sky Sports, Sherwood added:
“If I were a United fan, I wouldn’t be overly excited… When he [De Ligt] was a young player, he showed promise, but after moving to a major club, he seems to have lost his stride and needs to rediscover his form.
“Ten Hag will have to put in the work with him. Considering the substantial amount spent on him, one would anticipate his immediate inclusion in the squad. However, given his past experience with high-priced signings, there is no assurance. The new management might urge him to slowly integrate De Ligt into the team.”
