Manchester City Hit by Major Injury Setback Before Showdown with Chelsea

Jack Grealish’s availability for Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Chelsea is uncertain, as revealed by their manager, Pep Guardiola.

Having sustained a knock in training before the Community Shield clash with Manchester United, Grealish was omitted from the squad for the Wembley game.

There are doubts about the English midfielder’s participation in the upcoming match at Stamford Bridge this Sunday.

Commenting on Grealish’s situation, Guardiola remarked, “He experienced discomfort for a couple of days and felt particularly unwell on Friday.”

Regarding the decision to rest Grealish, Guardiola added, “We didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks. It is a setback, as he was in good form and displaying an aggressive style of play.”

Grealish himself acknowledged the situation by stating, “Maybe I will be fit to face Chelsea, or I am confident I will be ready for the game against Ipswich Town. Sustaining an injury at this stage could potentially result in a prolonged absence of three weeks to a month.”

The vacant left wing spot in Grealish’s absence will be contested by Jeremy Doku and the recently acquired £33 million signing, Savinho.
