Man Wanted for Killing 11-Year-Old Boy Apprehended by Delta police

After an extensive search, the Delta police have arrested a 26-year-old man, Ogaga Kome, for the alleged murder of 11-year-old Hossanna Merritt in Delta state.

Kome reportedly fatally shot Merritt on Monday, August 22, 2022, while testing a locally-made gun at his residence in Ozoro community.

Following the incident, he went into hiding, but the community members alerted the Ozoro police station, prompting the Delta police command to declare Kome as wanted and launch a manhunt.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, reported on Thursday, September 1, that Kome was handed over to the police by a relative. The investigation into the case is ongoing.

Edafe commented, stating, “On August 30, 2022, around 1:05 pm, a relative of the suspect brought him to the station. Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Ali, has expressed appreciation for the efforts of residents in the state for their support in combating crime. The CP also advised members of the public to monitor their environment, and report any suspicious persons or movements to the police.”
