The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended ThankGod Ekwueme for the sale of his three children.
The suspect, whose wife is deaf and dumb, allegedly sold the 5-year-old for N700,000, the 3-year-old for N350,000, and the newborn for N500,000.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP, the arrest of the suspect followed credible information on his illicit activities that was revealed on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
During an interview with journalists, Ekwueme admitted that he was apprehended by OSPAC in Omerelu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state while attempting to sell his newborn baby.
He further revealed that he was handed over to Elele Police Division and later transferred to the CP Monitoring unit.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s mother-in-law revealed to reporters that he had previously misled her by fabricating stories about the death of her grandchildren after childbirth.
She mentioned that Ekwueme, taking advantage of his deaf and dumb wife, conducted the sale of the children after her delivery.
