Man in Oyo arrested by police for the crime of exhuming and beheading his cousin

On Friday, the Oyo State Police Command made known the arrest of Muyideen Raimi for the gruesome act of exhuming and decapitating his late cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun.

Allegedly, Raimi, along with an accomplice who is currently on the run, dug up his cousin’s remains from the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan.

During a parade of the suspect at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police stated, “Muyideen Raimi has been arrested for the heinous acts committed against his late cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun, who was interred at the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan.”

According to police reports, Raimi was apprehended with the severed head and has confessed to the crime, revealing the involvement of one Sumaila, also known as Baba Ibeji, who is currently evading capture. Raimi disclosed their plan to utilize the skull for a ritual involving money. The investigation remains ongoing with further updates to follow.

In a distinct case, the Police Command paraded ritualist Muhammad Adekunle for accusations of killing and trafficking human body parts in Ibadan. As per police statements, Adekunle, in collaboration with Lukman, Olobe, and Ifa—currently on the run—conspired to perpetrate ritualistic murders in January 2024.

During the presentation of the suspects, law enforcement divulged that in April 2024, Adekunle and his associates enticed Adekola Sodiq to Moniya, where they dismembered his head and legs, subsequently selling them to Obaleye Sanmi and Ismail Olalekan.

Additional confessions indicated that on August 7, 2024, Adekunle and his cohorts killed Malik Kareem, severed his head and legs, and traded them to Rashidat Akanji at Oje Market for N70,000.

“At approximately 06:30hrs on August 11, 2024, a search warrant was executed at the residence of the suspects, leading to the recovery of fresh flesh. Adekunle confessed that this flesh belonged to Malik Kareem, the victim they had slain on August 7, 2024.

“During the course of the investigation, suspects Muniru Salawudeen, Rashidat Akanji, Ismail Olalekan, and Obaleye Sanmi were detained. They admitted to procuring assorted human body parts for rituals from Adekunle Mohammed.”

“In the early hours of August 10, 2024, around 00:15hrs, Ayede residents reported a foul smell emanating from a property owned by Muhammad Adekunle, who was not a permanent resident but visited at unusual times. The Moniya Divisional Police Headquarters promptly responded, uncovering a dry well containing mutilated human remains.

“Three unidentified bodies’ remains were extracted and transported to the State Hospital Morgue for preservation and examination. Additionally, photographic evidence was documented,” the Commissioner elaborated.
