Man City’s Guardiola Sets Conditions for New Signings; Alvarez Departs for Atletico Madrid

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has stated that the Premier League champions will not agree to exorbitant fees for their transfer targets.

Guardiola’s statement comes following the news of Julian Alvarez’s impending transfer to Atletico Madrid for a deal valued at up to £82 million.

The departure of Alvarez creates a vacancy in Guardiola’s roster.

Although City boasts plenty of attacking talent, the focus now shifts towards acquiring a defensive player capable of supporting Rodri.

Guardiola emphasized, “If we do decide to bring someone in, the price must align with our valuation; otherwise, it doesn’t make sense.”

He added, “We will assess the opportunities towards the end of the transfer window, possibly if a club becomes more willing to sell, who knows.”

Guardiola mentioned specific positional requirements, suggesting, “Perhaps a holding midfielder with flexibility to play as a central defender, or a central defender adept at Rodri’s position.”
