Man Arrested by Thai Police for Fatally Shooting Ex-Wife at Bangkok Shopping Mall

A man fatally shot his ex-wife and injured another individual at a shopping center in Bangkok on Tuesday, February 18. This incident occurred just ten days after a mass shooting at a different mall in Thailand’s northeast.

 

The man entered a beauty clinic at Century The Movie Plaza mall, where his ex-wife was employed, and proceeded to open fire. His actions resulted in the death of his ex-wife and the injury of a bystander, according to Colonel Kissana Pattanacharoen.

The gunman then fled the Century The Movie Plaza, located near the Victory Monument in the Thai capital.

“One person died and another was injured,” stated police Colonel Kissana Pattanacharoen to Reuters.

The gunman was apprehended in a different province while attempting to evade capture. Police confirmed his arrest on Wednesday morning and stated that he has been charged with premeditated murder, illegal possession of firearms, and three other offenses.

 

Just ten days prior to this incident, a soldier had fatally shot at least a dozen people at the Terminal 21 shopping center in the northeastern city of Nakhon Ratchasima. Prior to this attack, the soldier had killed his commanding officer, other soldiers at his base, and several individuals at a Buddhist temple.
