Man arrested by police in Ogun on suspicion of cult-related murder

On Saturday, the Ogun State Police Command announced the arrest of Adekunle Adebajo, also known as Kunle Polly, a 34-year-old suspected cultist, for his alleged involvement in the murder of a rival cult member known as Mosquito in the Ijebu Ode area of Ogun.

Mosquito was recently found dead, brutally attacked with his left hand severed and taken.

According to the state police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, a distress call was received on August 12 reporting the violent clash between rival cult groups that resulted in Mosquito’s death.

Odutola revealed that Kunle Polly, one of the suspected assailants, was apprehended at his hideout in Isiwo, Ijebu.

Acting on credible information from the public, the police swiftly located and arrested Adebajo.

During interrogation, Adebajo admitted to being affiliated with the Eiye confraternity.

A search of his residence led to the discovery of a Beretta pistol with ammunition, two UTC axes, and charms.

The police are currently investigating the motive behind severing victims’ left hands and are pursuing other suspects still at large.

The suspect is currently being held for questioning at the Igbeba Division in Ijebu Ode.

Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu affirmed a crackdown on cult activities in Isiwo Ijebu, ensuring all culprits are brought to justice.

Previously, the state command arrested Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old wanted suspected cultist affiliated with the Alora confraternity in Oja Odan, Yewa-North Local Government Area.

Akojede, known for terrorizing residents, was a fugitive until his recent apprehension.
