Authorities of the Niger state police command have taken into custody a 25-year-old man, Ezekiel Yunana, over the alleged rape of an 85-year-old grandmother in Rafi local government area in the state.
The victim, who reported the incident at the Kagara police division, stated that she was asleep in her house when the suspect forcibly entered her room through the window and sexually assaulted her. She recounted that Ezekiel had threatened to abduct her and demanded a large sum of money, which she said she did not possess. The elderly woman disclosed that Ezekiel subjected her to prolonged rape until her grandson arrived and came to her rescue.
During interrogation, Ezekiel admitted to the crime, stating that he chose to assault the elderly woman as she was unable to provide him with money.
Confirming the incident, ASP Abiodun Wasiu, the spokesperson of the state police command, affirmed that the suspect has acknowledged his involvement in the crime and indicated that he will be brought to court for prosecution.
