In a recent revelation, Lyon midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles expressed his desire for Arsenal to clinch the Premier League trophy this season.
Having made his debut for the Gunners back in 2014 after progressing through the Hale End Academy, Maitland-Niles’ journey led him on loan spells to West Brom, Roma, and Southampton before eventually securing a permanent move to Lyon as a free agent in 2023.
Despite his departure from Arsenal, Maitland-Niles still holds a deep affection for his childhood club.
Speaking to The Athletic, he remarked, “It’s my boyhood club, I still root for them and keep a close eye on their progress. I really hope they manage to secure the league title this year. Seeing them achieve that would bring me immense joy. I harbor no feelings of envy whatsoever.”
