Lyon to Pay N12.6b for the Signing of Gift Orban from KAA Gent

It seems that French club, Olympique Lyonnais, is close to finalizing the signing of Gift Orban, the Super Eagles striker, from KAA Gent.

According to a report by French sports daily L’Equipe, the transfer fee for the Nigerian striker is valued at approximately €13m (equivalent to N12.6 billion in Nigerian currency), and he is expected to commit to a four-and-half year contract with the club, which would last until June 2028.

At 21 years of age, Orban was a nominee for the CAF Young Player of the Year for 2023 and has attracted significant interest since joining Gent in January 2023.

During his first six months with the club, he showcased his talent by scoring 27 goals and providing two assists in 38 appearances, contributing to Gent’s success in UEFA competitions.

Prior to his transfer to Gent, he demonstrated his abilities at Norwegian side Stabæk, where he scored 19 goals and delivered seven assists in 24 appearances.
