LP aspirant, Akpata: Obaseki isn’t financing my gubernatorial ambition

Olumide Akpata, a gubernatorial hopeful under the Labour Party, LP, has contradicted claims of Governor Godwin Obaseki sponsoring his campaign.

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, dismissed the reports as baseless and unfounded during a press briefing in Benin, Edo State capital.

Akpata rebuffed allegations of attempting to secure the LP ticket through monetary means, dubbing it as immature.

According to Akpata: “The notion that I am backed by Godwin Obaseki is entirely without merit and groundless. This rumor was propagated by two irresponsible online blogs, which I intend to aggressively confront because my stance on countering fake news is to address it promptly before it gains traction.”

He further added, “It has also been propagated by dissatisfied politicians, including members of my own party. I conveyed to them that it is a feeble argument. My association with the governor has always been transparent. Only politicians who struggle to accept differing viewpoints hastily assume that two contenders sitting together must be from the same faction.”
