Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and three Morocco stars make L’Equipe’s team of the World Cup

L’Equipe’s World Cup Best XI features Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and three Morocco players.

The team includes Messi and Mbappe, who displayed outstanding performances in the final match between Argentina and France. Despite Mbappe’s hat-trick, which made him the first player to achieve this feat in a World Cup final since Geoff Hurst in 1966, Argentina emerged victorious in the penalties. Messi, on the other hand, scored twice and successfully converted a penalty in the shoot-out, fulfilling his dream of winning the World Cup at the age of 35.

In addition to Messi and Mbappe, three other Argentine players, Enzo Fernandez and Marcos Acuna, also made it to the best XI. The team also features three Moroccan players: Achraf Hakimi, Romain Saiss, and Sofyan Amrabat.

Completing the midfield three is Luka Modric, while Josko Gvardiol partners Saiss in central defense, and Dominik Livakovic is the chosen goalkeeper, despite the FIFA award going to Emi Martinez.
