Legendary singer, Majek Fashek is dead

The news of the passing away of the legendary Nigerian singer, Majek Fashek, has saddened many. The cause of his death remains unclear, but it was reported that he passed away in a New York hospital on Monday, June 1.

Joy Tongo, a former manager of Cynthia Morgan, confirmed the news of Majek Fashek’s demise on Instagram. Another confirmation came from his manager, Omenka Uzoma, who encouraged celebrating the achievements of the music legend in a brief video.

Majek Fashek was widely recognized for his 1988 album “Prisoner of Conscience,” which featured the award-winning single “Send Down the Rain.” Throughout his career, he collaborated with numerous artists globally, including Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé.
