Latest Update on Imo Building Collapse: Three More Bodies Found, Mother and Children Still Trapped in Rubble

The site of the 8-storey building under construction that collapsed in Owerri, the Imo state capital on Thursday April 30 has seen the recovery of three more bodies. The collapse occurred around 4pm while artisans were still at work.

Following an initial recovery of one body, three additional bodies have now been found by rescue workers, raising the death toll to 4.

Tragically, a woman who reportedly sold goods to the workers at the site is among those trapped under the rubble with her two children.

Rescue operations continue in an effort to free others still trapped in the building. 12 individuals have been successfully rescued thus far.

Meanwhile, the state government has launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse. It has been revealed that the building owner did not obtain approval for constructing a skyscraper on the property.
