Lagos police arraigns three women in court for fighting in public

The Lagos State Police Command has brought three women to court for their alleged involvement in a public altercation that led to one of them sustaining an injury in Oshodi. The women, identified as Amimat Adebayo, 25; Ahmed Shukurah, 24; and Ahmed Jumoke, 28, were arraigned before Magistrate L.A. Owolabi of the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Ogba on Wednesday.

They were charged with engaging in a serious public fight on January 22, 2023, at Ishola Imam Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos. The charge, which is an offence under Section 54 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015, was read to them, and they pleaded not guilty. Their lawyer, Christiana Folaranmi, requested bail, which was granted by Owolabi in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned until February 23, 2023, for mention.
