Kidnapping of Former Delta State Commissioner in Asaba Church

Reports have emerged that Joan Onyemachi Mrapkpor, also known as “Ada Anioma,” a former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, was abducted on Tuesday.

Mrapkpor, who recently stepped down from her position to support her younger brother’s bid for the local government council chairmanship, was taken from her church during a service.

The incident took place at her church on the DBS Road near the police headquarters in Asaba, Delta State.

An eyewitness recounted the chaos, stating, “There was a disturbance in her church vicinity, near the DBS Road police headquarters. Gunshots were fired, causing panic among the attendees. The abduction occurred just moments ago. One of her aides was fatally shot, and a security officer is currently unconscious.”

The Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the abduction, revealing that one of the command’s officers was killed during the incident.

Edafe assured that investigators are actively pursuing the abductors and pledged to provide more information as the investigation progresses.
