Kidnappers Release Twin Children of Popular Ibadan Islamic Cleric

The twin children of well-known Ibadan-based Muslim cleric, Sheik Taofeeq Akeugbagold, who were abducted, have been released by their captors after being held for eight days.

 

The Sheikh announced the release of his children on his Facebook page this morning.
 

“ALHAMDULILLAH! AT 5.30 AM OF SUNDAY 3RD MAY, MY ABDUCTED TWIN KIDS ARE RELEASED TO ME BESIDE A BUSH AFTER 8 DAYS IN AN UNKNOWN LAND. THANKS TO U ALL FOR FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT, JAZAKUMULLAHU KHAIRAN. ABERE MI BO SINU OKUN, OLOUN YO PADA FUN MI.” he wrote

 

On Saturday, April 25, armed men raided Sheik Taofeeq Akeugbagold’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo state and kidnapped his children. They demanded £100,000 in ransom from Taofeeq.

Yesterday, in a conversation with LIB, he stated that he was negotiating with the abductors to lower the ransom.
